Kellington Spring Clean
Saturday, 19 April

Residents Spring Clean

Residents collected 30 bags of rubbish on Saturday morning from the
lanes around the village of Kellington. Over a dozen people joined
Selby District Councillors John and Mary McCartney to give their area
a spring clean.
Councillor Mary McCartney said, ‘We were amazed at the amount and
variety of rubbish that filthy people throw out of their car windows,
hundreds of plastic bottles, glass bottles and fast food containers,
but we also found a horse blanket and a tent! We will now arrange
regular sweeps of the lanes around our village so that we can keep
them spick and span, but, the real answer to the problem of litter
under our hedges is for car drivers and their passengers to take their
rubbish home with them’

Anti new town campaigners ‘Drumming up Support’

Dozens of residents from Eggborough and Kellington ignored the
blustery, cold, Easter weather to get their message across to shoppers
in Selby town centre on Saturday 22 March.. Accompanied by four drums, the hardy campaigners handed out leaflets and got passing shoppers to sign their petition. Photographers from the Selby Times,
Selby Post and York Press attended.

The "Barking Mad Dog Walk" took place in glorious sunshine on the 17th February and was an enormous success. Over 500 people and 65 dogs took part in the walk across field paths down to the Jolly Miller at Eggborough, with most people returning via Sandy Lane. Should the proposed Willow Green developement go ahead, this very pleasant 75 minute walk through open countryside would be completely concreted over. For more pictures from the walk - Click Here
