Although it is a small, rural village, geographically, Kellington is very well placed for its residents to reach all the major Northern cities. It is bounded to the South by the M62, the East by the A19 and the A1 is only 5 miles to the West at Knottingley. Doncaster, Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and York are all within a half hour's drive, while Sheffield and Hull can be reached in around three quarters of an hour. Manchester and Newark are approximately an hour away, and it takes less than 2 hours to drive to Newcastle. Mainline trains run from Selby [7 miles], and from Doncaster, Wakefield, Leeds and York, and ferry services operate from Hull and Immingham. The area is served by 3 local airports - Humberside, Leeds/Bradford, the new Robin Hood airport at Finningley, south of Doncaster and the much larger Manchester Airport is only an hour or so away. |
