Guides and Brownies
|
The Guides and Brownies meet in Kellington Village Hall each Monday evening. The Brownies meet from 6pm - 7.30pm Leader - Mrs J Brookes [Age range 7 - 10] The Guides meet from 7.30pm - 9 .00pm Leader - Mrs J Burkill [Age range 10 - 15] New members are very welcome to come along any Monday evening, although if it's their first visit, they must be accompanied by an adult. A variety of interesting activities takes place, and this year, instead of a Christmas Party, both groups are going Ten Pin Bowling. On the 3rd of December, 2004, they sang carols around the village Christmas Tree, which was kindly provided for the village by Mowlem, accompanied by the Selby Scout and Guide Band. Mince pies were served, along with mulled wine and a large crowd of villagers came along to join in the carols and enjoy what was a most successful evening. This year, 2005, the Carol singing took place on Friday, December 2nd. Once again, it was a huge success, and the mulled wine, made by Pauline Wilson, and mince pies made by Mrs Smith, Mrs Burkhill and Mrs Chaston, were absolutely delicious. The weather stayed dry, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the performance of the Selby Scout and Guide band. Once again, well done to Jackie and the Kellington Guides for organising such a successful event, and thanks to Des Pointon, for putting up fresh lights on the Christmas tree, after the vandals had wrecked the existing ones the night before the event.
