Early Days of Kellington School
|
Prior to 1979, children from Kellington attended Beal County Primary School up to the age of 11, after which they transferred to Sherburn High School. Before the Boundary changes in 1974, the secondary school for Kellington children was Knottingley High School, as at that time, Kellington was in West Yorkshire, not North Yorkshire. In 1978, work began to build a new school in Kellington to replace Beal School, Kellington at that time being the largest of the 4 villages it was to serve. Its pupils would be drawn from Kellington, Beal, Birkin and Kellingley. The new school first opened its doors in November, 1979, and at that time the staff were:-
